how do you feel about george lucas's involvement with star wars? are his directing skills what they used to be?
i feel that lord of the rings had better acting than the previous two star wars films. when i watch LOTR (any of the 3 movies, most notiably the first two), i feel as tho i am there. the character interactions and dialogue and a life to the story that make it really shine for me. as for star wars.. its as if i can see the actors reading the lines instead of feeling for the emotions of the characters and the struggles of the jedi. i'm not impressed george. your first trilogy was far superior.

I think george lucas is responsible for one of the biggest travesties known to man. In the first remake of episode four, they make greedo shoot at han first, so that han doesnt look like a bad guy.
i can't just turn my back on that one.

I completely disagree with directors remaking films with altered scenes.
That would have been the same as da Vince coming back to make the Mona Lisa's smirk just a little bigger because she didn't look happy enough
And this shows way to much in Lucas...what a panzy

Lucas's skills are definatly going down hill. I hope episode 3 is better than 1&2. But I will always love 4,5,&6 (the original version that the "special edition" with all the added crap!). Lucas needs to pull his head out of his ass and start making good movies again or I will be forced to destroy the world!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, some of the 'redone' scenes were filmed at the time of the original....they were just cut....and yeah, some of it sucked....like Healthy Choice Jabba......but there were some bits that added to the movie.....
then again, everything has to be so dammed PC now that it's pathatic....everyone's so afraid of 'offending' someone that you can't make good movies like you used to....there's a South Park episode about Lucas remaking his movies (which is a very hilarious episode btw), and there's a preview in the theatre of ET where all the guns have been replaced by walkie-talkies....i thought it was a joke until i actually saw ET on tv recently, and they HAD done that!!.....OMG, what the fug?.....it's not like showing police officers with guns is going to damage little kids...it's a fact of life....it didn't damage me....hell, i grew up with Spaceballs and Freddy.....and i didn't even learn to curse properly until i got to college....didn't harm me in the least!...

What people don't seem to realize or maybe lucas forgot about, is han is a pirate. He's not a good guy. He's doing it ooonly for the money. He's not some puppy hugging pansy like they want him to be.

you know what pisses me off more now? i saw a commercial for this box set and the words used were: "Contains all 3 classic movies in one dvd set!" obviously they must not have noticed that the set does not have the "classic movies" but the "re-made movies" guh.. bastards. :complain:

I have to admit even though I'm a die hard Star Wars fan, the casting crew needs to get a freakin clue. The last Star Wars (aka Attack of the Clones which is a fucking stupid ass title) made me want to hurl with all the Padme and Anakin mush scenes. I mean come on I was like "What the hell did I pay to see Star Wars or You've Got Mail!?" It was a huge let down, if it wasn't for the whole Yoda kickin ass scene the whole movie would have sucked monkey balls.-_-;

original trilogy or the prequel?
I've been a die hard SW fan since I was 7 or 8 yrs old. Probably the only girl in school with a Millenium Falcon and an Ewok Village -_-; I was one of those damn hippies in line at midnight when Episode 1 hit the theatres. I had such great hopes for the storyline. I shoulda realized sooner that Lucas had run mad long ago. The prequel in comparison to the original is akin to a forced shit. Sure it has fantastic cg, but thats all there is to these movies. Flash, no substance. In 1980 people gave a crap about Han Solo being frozen in carbonite. I dont think anyone really gives a shit whats going on with the characters in the prequel. Star Wars has lost its charm. The new movies may be "the cutting edge" of technology, but nobody cares. We're so bombarded by higher standards for special effects that flashy shiney things arent really enough to get our attention anymore. That leaves the story itself to take up the slack, and it doesnt.

All I have to say is if Lucas screws up 3 than I will be forced to kill him! He just can't screw up 3 Vader's begining in the Star Wars saga must not be scewed up!!!!!!!!!!:x
The only good thing in 1 & 2 was the Sith vs. Jedi fighting. Damn you Lucas for getting fucking stupid!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me about it...the first time I saw Star Wars I was 6 years old. I watched it with my dad at my grandparents house on their old big screen TV, and it was on a DISC Player *Lady and Sledge probably know what they are* anyway, that christmas my dad bought me the Millinium Falcon, and now I have a bumper sticker on my car that reads "My other Transport is the Millinium Falcon" and I'm a girl too. I cried my eyes out when I saw the second one, I think I was eight or nine, and I bawled when they froze Han Solo. Personally...I coulda cared less when Qui-Gon died. The prequel's so far have been shit, Episode three better be good, or I'm writting one nasty letter.-_-;

When Solo was frozen I said 1 for the Vader man and 0 for the punkass mofos. hehehe
3 best not be screwed up cause I don't want to remember the birth of Vader being retarded!

I love the DVD set personally. The highly improved quality over my old VHS trilogy makes up for what I see to be some pretty minor edits anyway. And the bonus materials disc. That things really cool.
Hell_Cat_18
January 4th, 2005, 10:47 PM
MINOR MY ASS! Sorry...but those where not minor. Putting Hayden Christiansen in place of Sabastian Shaw was fucking murder. I'm sorry, but I think Christiansen is a terrible actor who needs to go back to the sitcoms.-_-;

January 5th, 2005, 12:04 AM
But does it COMPLETELY ruin the movie? No. I'll always acknowledge the fact that Shaw was the original actor, but the DVD's pros outweigh their cons.

I have both versions, the old ones and the re-mastered version of the old series which came out a few years ago. All this on VHS sadly and I scrapped my player. So now I don't have anything to view it on, I was thinking of converting them to Vcd's but I eyed a Dvd box set of the Trilogy (Silver cover). I'm buying a Dvd player in the next 3 months *hopefully* and I'll get the box set too (but it's worth a bitch, 3000 bucks pwned)
Lucas needs to get outta his Star Wars shell, make a few other movies and then probably get back into the series. It'd be tough to draw comparisons between the first trilogy (ep's 4,5,6) and the new one. I only didn't like Hayden's casting into the series. He's a wooden actor ....
Question I've been reading a lot is; who was Sifo-Dyas ?
Hell_Cat_18
January 23rd, 2005, 04:51 PM
I think it was an alies used either by Dukoo, or by the Emporer, but it might have been the Emporer's master...which is the one I'm betting on.

i have watched both the dvd and vhs box set of the first three star wars, and personally I thought there wasn't much of a difference. The dvd quailty was a little better and the bonus disc had some cool stuff but the orignal star wars were great and i just perfer the older ones for some reason but I find there is nothing wrong with the new ones as well.
Hell_Cat_18
January 24th, 2005, 11:08 AM
The new ones are good don't get me wrong, but you just can't mess with, or beat, the originals. Btw...I'm sending Sledge your sig tonight, I had to change the formating in order to send it, and it took forever. Sowwy it's taken so long.

He is one of the jedi masters on the Jedi counsel.

January 25th, 2005, 02:11 PM
He could be the Emperor's clone too. You never know how the idea of cloning an army was made, in the first place. But then again, why would he have him killed.
Flying_Monkey
January 27th, 2005, 12:42 PM
hmm you all have good points, but I don't think he or the emporer are clones.
But he probly did use the darkside of the force, secretly of coarse
Hell_Cat_18
January 30th, 2005, 06:07 PM
Okay in Episode II, the clone makers said that Master Siphodeas of the jedi council ordred the clones for the Republic...so how can you say that neither one of them had anything to do with the making of the clones.
Flying_Monkey
January 30th, 2005, 06:14 PM
I didn't say they didn't have anything to do with it I said that the Emporer and Dyas are not clones themselves as Godgrave was speculating.
