Ok, quickie rant. On another message board, there's been a debate thread about teacher pay. Ok, yeah, I think teachers should be paid a lot more than they are. That's not a debate for me. But then this guy goes off on how teachers are actually rather stupid and that it's an easy thing to do and it doesn't matter. WTF??? I sent him a rather annoyed reply, but that just pissed me off! I worked my ass off for that degree, and the main reason I'm not teaching is that I can't handle it. There is a SHITLOAD off stuff that's involved in teaching, and I really pisses me off when someone says something like that!
Of course, this is also the guy that, in the same thread, said that someone making 50,000 a year is poor and thinks that capitialism is a waste of time for a society, so i gotta take what he says with a grain of salt, but still. *grrrrrr!*

Maybe he's arguing for the sake of it or had a lousy teacher back in school, making it the base of his generalization for the 'teacher's are stupid' tangent. Having said that, there will always be good or bad/ incompetent teachers, like any other profession. It's definitely a HARD profession to fulfill because of the weight of the student/ parent/ school expectations, and at the end of the day you're responsible for molding the kid. Dubie's a qualified teacher ^_^? Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

yeah, here's his arguement (http://www.brad-johnson.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4015&start=25) (i think you can read without being logged in). And I know there's bad teachers just as there are good teachers. But saying all teachers are stupid is a very bad generalization.

That guy sounds way out there to be stating teachers are stupid. I know that I've disagreed on some subjects with them. But that stuff was usually about politics during Social Studies. I only had one bad teacher, but he was eventually replaced.
As for the $50,000 a year part he is completely wrong. I get way less than that & I'm getting by with out any major problems. If he has a problem with capitalism then what does he suggest? Socialism or communism would only make more people poor. By the way you describe him he probably was kicked out of school for not having a brain.

Teachers are great! They put up with me when no one else would. ROFLOL!... One of the down sides to being a teacher... Feeling like you're playing babysitter... no offense... I'm sure I made them feel that way 60% of the time...

hes an ignorant turd
I haven't seen anyone living in a 200,000$ shack, maybe dumbo has pictures. He's got some pretty messed up ideas about poverty too. Guess he's never used food stamps :meh: surprise! Poor ppl can have a life, most nature is free.
He also sounds like a misogynist, his view on wives tells me he doesn't get many dates.
And I totally agree w/ you on better teachers better pay. We all like this town and the kids like the school here, but I grew up 1 town over in snobbsville. The teachers in Skaneateles are making a good buck I'm sure but they are also quality teachers. I cant say the same about Marcellus. They passed my son through 6th and 7th grade even though he failed both. Now he's going to an alternative school and the teachers are way better. They actually let me know there was a problem now 1/2 way into the first marking period instead of him coming home with a bunch of f's (F for fucking kill somebody!)

My mom works in the school district but not as a teacher. She has been working with the school district as a sub since I was a kid in school. Teachers do not get payed well at all. And yes, I think that most of public teachers are over payed babysitters. You do meet a few teachers that give a damn, and want to teach kids so that can make something of their lives but most of them could care less. Yet, most of the public teachers are molding our youth to be productive couch potatoes so they can get a fucking paycheck.
My daughter will not go to public schools. She is still young and her dad and I will have to chat about that when the time comes. My 7th grade history teacher was a great teacher and I really hated history. I studyed hard and I passed his class with a A or B...I don't remember. I am 25 now, and that same 7th grade history teacher just got caught watching child porn on campus after hours. *shrugs* Go figure.
I can relate to any one who has had small children and had to go on food stamps. Infact, what pisses me off is I made a whole dollar more than the limit one month, ONE MONTH and they denyed my daughter (who was a few months old at the time)health care. A fucking dollar! But, oh if you hop our borders you get more fucking benefits than a woman and child who was born here. What the fuck is that about?
Our system is so fucked it makes me sick. I could go on and on.
Think outside the box.
*This is just my opinion based on experience and is not here to offend anyone who may be a teacher, or has friends and family who are.* :)
