None of the following information is chiseled in stone. It is my work-in-progress campaign log to help keep me focused. I will update this post periodically to reflect minor changes. Major updates, such as new characters or regions, will be posted all together in a new post. Eventually, I'll move this information to my own website and link to it for ease of use.
Known campaign map
Beltfor: country, mixed races
The country is run under feudal lords who rule over small sections of the country. They all pledge allegiance to a single liege. The people respect their places in society, and though it is possible to climb the social ladder, most find that there is still a glass ceiling of sorts. The country is run fairly with a fine line between what is best for the country versus the individual. Most people are happy with their lot in life.
Conflicts: Nomad raiders pillage the northeastern portion of the country. The damage is minimal, but the constant harassment is keeping the bulk of the country's forces along the border. The king's council of noblemen wants the conflict with the nomads to end soon, so they can continue with their more ambitious plans.
Geography: Beltfor is a small pear shaped country. The western borders are shaped by a mountainous range called the Windspikes. The northeastern borders lie next to a neutral zone of sorts consisting of vast open plains currently in dispute with a neighboring country, and is now occupied mostly by nomadic monstrous races. The eastern borders drift into the Great Naub desert. The entire southern border is open to the Silver Sea.
Dareken: country, mixed races
The people of Dareken are very industrious and fairly wealthy. Even their most isolated thorp enjoys the moderate comforts of a small town. The country is well-organized and developed to make transportation very accessible and cheap. The small size of the country allows the monarchy to focus their attention upon the economy. This intrusive micromanagement by the king is not welcomed by all, but no one can dispute the results.
Conflicts: The Dareken's are constantly having border conflicts with the Edenathians as the Dareken's slowly expand their country by cutting down trees along their border. So far, the growth and ebb of the great forest has not caused any great concern, but some wander if the two sides will ever truly come to terms as homes on both sides are relocated by force.
Geography: The country is shaped like a crescent as it rounds the Silver Sea. The sylvan nation of Edenath to the west consists of one almost contiguous jungle that is closed to most traffic. This forest-line along their entire western border is ever fluctuating.
Gormain: thorp in Beltfor, human
Gormain is a simple human farming community. It is situated on one of several low traveled routes between the countries of Beltfor and Dareken under the shadows of the Windspikes in the southwest. Without much access to the easy living seen in most other communities, their simple lifestyle is mocked by merchant caravans as they pass their homesteads, usually without stopping.
Saltmere: large town in Beltfor, mixed races
Saltmere is a seaport along the Silver Sea. It supports a large merchant fleet that trades primarily with the Dareken ports to the west, a nation across the sea to the south, and another on the other side of the Great Naub desert. The community is well diversified, even including some monstrous races, such as goblins and a few ogres for hard labor, though they are barely considered a secondary class. There are exceptions of course as the all mighty gold coin can purchase anything.
Non-player charcters (NPCs)
Jelar Riverman
Stats: Warrior level 2 (NPC class), human, male, alignment: neutral good.
Equipment: Shortspear, dagger, chainshirt, Bluecloak explorer's outfit, standard adventuring gear.
Background: He is the son of low-class merchants of the mixed, large town of Saltmere in the country of Beltfor. He does what he thinks is right to help others close to him, though sometimes this causes him problems. He usually knows more than he lets on, giving him a slight edge over others who don't catch on. He is an experienced mercenary in the pay of the Bluecloaks.
Merlais Torash
Stats: Warrior level 1 (NPC class), human, male, alignment: neutral.
Equipment: Longsword, dagger, chainshirt, Bluecloak explorer's outfit, standard adventuring gear.
Background: Son of simple farmers in the human thorp of Gormain in the country of Beltfor. He's jealous of high society and grows angry when he's reminded of what he thinks are his shortcomings. He is tired of his home and all that it represents to him, failure. He was recently recruited by Jelar Riverman to the Bluecloaks, and is still learning the ropes.
