We started playing this yesterday afternoon and based from my first impressions, I love the scenery but I'm dissapointed in how they did the in game cut scenes.. the first two games always showed the characters up close, animated, lip movements.. it was like actually watching them.. but now they just stand there and you get a character dialouge box showing their emotion ala Lunar SSSC. This saddens me. :( I hope the game makes up for this in it's length and story/plot.
I dunno if its just me, but it sounds like they re-wrote some of the backstory from the first two games? :confused: The database is informative with some of the info, but I don't remember some of the stuff they're referring to at all..
btw, the artbook is nice, but I've seen most (if not all) of these images online for months now. I wonder what that lithograph and poster look like.

Meh, my copy of III is enticing me to play it but I can't. I still haven't beaten II yet. Must keep my willpower strong (though I'll probably have II beaten this weekend)

I got the artbook for XSI and II, the life size poster, lenticular, II and III's strategy guide. I win. :P
The text box stuff is very old news, you can just press select if you don't want to keep pressing the X button so it goes on automatically like as if it were a movie.
There's about 7.4 hours of CG and 8 something of text talk I think. Someone else posted the exact times for everything but I forgot most of it.
The ending seems like it could have another game, that won't happen though.
Nope, they didn't re-write anything. They added the story of what happened between the time gap though.

Well technically EVA there can be another game. It was stated by the developers that Xenosaga III ends Shion's story arc and direct involvement with whats going on. If thats not a hint that there'll be another game I don't know what is.
Seeing as how I haven't beaten II or III yet I can't say much on where they could go but I thought I'd point that out.

But certain characters "die" so it'd make the game boring. I've thought it out, and the story would be real boring with some favorite characters MIA. Plus they've stated that this was the final for sure, plus they answered some major things. :|
Anyone got question, because I can answer them... >_>

Yea but that doesn't mean they can't make a new cast. Remember Xenosaga is based off of Xenogears so it wouldn't exactly be a surprise if we get a new cast. Plus, don't get me wrong I love the current cast, but I'm sick of seeing some of the same people all the time. New blood would make for a better story in my opinion.
As I said, haven't beaten two nor have I started three, so I'm just going off of what I've read. Again this is the last Xenosaga game that will include Shion, her story is done which we can take to include that whats left of the original cast is also done with the Xenosaga Mythos. There are plenty of other people in the universe to take us on another quest. It doesn't always have to be the same people leading a quest.

=_=;
Sorry, but Xenosaga (Xeno- anything in general) is done. Plus it's not supposed to be based off of Xenogears it's just homage to Xenogears. Takahashi Tetsuya was the director, that's the only reason they seemed similiar. But some fans are too dumb to comprehend that he's stated they are not connected at all.
Plus the majority of the staff have said they were going to move onto new things, the only thing you can hope for after this is would be a DS version of III, even that is slim to none. Plus Xenosaga I&II isn't even coming here because of sales in the US.
The sales for XSIII have been a lot lower than the other two in Japan and so far in the US, hence why they cutted it to three games instead of the original six.
Xenosaga isn't like FF where they'll keep making spin-offs or an alternate universe story.

Just from starting Xenosaga 3 I was confused about some of the references they were making, but it seems more clear after reading the story info in the database which includes a "End of Xenosaga 2 to Current." It looks like they skipped one or two games to get to Xenosaga 3 because of how they reference all the Grimoir stuff, the UMN stuff, Nephilim, etc.
As for Xenogears, its loosly connected to xenosaga because it was the original design for the series of games to begin with. They just had all that legal trouble and squaresoft owns its. If squaresoft wanted to, they could make a xenogears two. They revived the old ps1 valkryie profile title for a sequel, so it could happen. :p
Seriously, I could see a sequel being made for Xenosaga, it wouldn't even have to be the same director. Namco owns the title, characters, etc.

The story comes from Xenosaga: The Missing Year, which was between II and III. It was a web only series.
Difference between Valkryie and Xenosaga having another game is that Xenosaga never sold well since Xenosaga I in Japan and US.
Like I said before, Takahashi said Gears and Saga were two completely different games that only had homages, the same director and religious allusions to connect them together.
Only reason there was a Xenosaga was because Takahashi wanted one. There's a 1 to 100 chance thy're are going to make another Xeno based on the sales of Xenosaga I-III.

I'm not impressed with this game. Shion is a bitch and her dumb ass faints all the time and then says I'm fine -_-; Not enough chaos or Jr.
*sigh*it took them that long to figure out the "young man" was Kevin. Dumb -_-;

finished up the game last night
best part of the game:
beating the shit out of Shion. I had Ziggy choke her repeatedly.:happy: She annoyed me all game. She was a total whiney bitch and her constant fainting shit was as annoying as her running her damn mouth.
End of the game:
Yay Allen, but the poor guy should have told Shion to fuck off the way she has always treated him.
Poor Jin. Too bad they couldn't have sent Shion back to die instead.
The database says Ziggy's brain may not last long. If Mizrahi is such a genius why not put him into a realian body so he can stay with MOMO instead of dropping dead -_-
Now that Jr and Albedo are together again I wonder if Jr will finally be able to grow up. Will anything significant happen when Albedo wakes I wonder.
About Namco:
Boo! Did they really expect more sales for the last episode of a game with such a small fanbase just by rateing it T? Removing the blood from kid Shion and Jin end scenes left them weak. The game seemed rushed and it was one of those pull the ending out of their asses deals.

Overall, I liked the uniqueness the characters had during battles again, but the constant shionness really annoyed me. The ziggy stuff was good and he was finally a great character to have in combat, but KOS MOS was sadly left on the back burner through most of the game. Besides the beginning and ending of the game KOS MOS might as well have not been there at all. She served about as much usefullness as momo. (except momo actually spoke during the game, even though she only had about 8 lines total). Seeing as this was a Shion game, I'm really dissapointed they didn't emphasize Shion's martial arts talents (revealed in game 2) in her attacks. I miss the combo attacks and boosting was made completely irrelevant because you needed to horde all your boost for specials. ehh.. the game seemed rushed to me.
I still have to read through the entire database to fill in all the blanks, but I wish more of the game itself was revealed during cutscenes or character development as opposed to "lets download this database update and check it later." -_-;
I dunno. I suppose I had my expectations too high for this game because of my fondness for the first and because of the way the second ended.
Mary, abel, abel's ark, everyone willing everything, u-do being god, abel being the second comeing I guess.. I think the entire thing was wrote pretty shitty. I like a little mystery, but when it came down to the end of the game, I felt like I was watching evangelion. And I really don't feel like looking up some guy's xenosaga bible of explanations to fully grasp the game's concept.
In the end, you can tell they fired key writing staff and its pretty obvious with how the story plays out and you begin to wonder to yourself... WTF.
Its pretty funny tho.. because if they were to make another Xenosaga game, whether or not it was another sequel or a spinoff game based in the same universe, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. X'D
I enjoyed Xenosaga 3 to a point, but I can only imagine what the game would have really been like if the original team that designed and wrote the series were able to finish their work.
btw, I still think Abel's ark was a ship and that it had a planet, if not multiple planets in it, possibly even earth. gnosis my ass. :p

I liked the series mostly, I hated Shion from the start and I thought the trilogy's ending sucked. Though if another came out I'd have to play it spin off or no...
btw has anyone heard anything about a game called Xenosaga freaks? My kid sister found it on some web page she was at and has been talking about it...anyone know anything about it?

It's basically a massive Xenosaga encyclopedia with the demo of XSII, and two bonus minigames. It never came here, and never will, just like Pied Piper.
