View Full Version : Sesshoumaru's fluffy is not a tail, dangit!

Doesn't it just get irritating when people call it a tail? It isn't even attached to Sesshoumaru's backside! I swear if I see one more fanart showing it growing off his tailbone or read one more fanfic where he makes it wag, I am going to have a fit.

It is his tail. O_o
he can use it in combat. heres a screenshot example:
http://www.windscar.com/gallery/data/media/20/Sesshomaru_fluffy.jpg
and it can bleed too. i think it got cut when he battled jakotsu. it also got cut and bled in movie 3. maybe i'll take a screenshot later on. :p

We have debated this issue before. Here's the link:
http://forums.ancientclan.com/showthread.php?t=431
The possibility of Sesshomaru's fluffy actually being his tail seems plausible and rather likely. At least, that is my opinion. As I stated in the thread where this issue was debated, it bleeds, moves at Sesshomaru's will, and IS connected to his back beneath his armor. Note the screenshots in the thread linked above.

This was already discussed? I never saw the topic header :(
But we saw both ends of it when he was lying in the woods after the Wind Scar tore him up. Plus, I think he could move the pelt because it is somehow enchanted to obey whoever wears it and learns to command it, kinda like when he gave Jaken the Staff of Heads(Ninjoutu?) and said he could keep it if he could learn to use it. I like to think of it as an extension of him that isn't attached, just like he sometimes uses his swords as an extension of himself.
Also, there are pictures from behind that show the fluff is nowhere near being attached to his butt :)

His tail is not attatched to his spine.
Why the hell did that song Detatchable Penis just pop into my head o_0
Tail is probably not the 100% correct word to use anatomically speaking, but it's close. It's another apendage of their body, they're dog demons and the fluffy disapears when they transform into full demon mode.

It is his tail of some sort. Simply for the fact that...
In movie 3 his father has dual fluffies, they disappeared when he became dog form. Now when he became the dog he now had two tails. Also when sesshomaru transforms look at his tail closely then look at the fluffy.

It's somehow connected, it grows like a bandolier around him when he transforms.
It's just so.....so......FLUFFY..... o.o; I wonder how heavy that thing really is.

I haven't seen the movie where he gets stabbed in the fluffy yet, but I bet the blood is coming from him as he got stabbed through the fluffy and into his skin or whatever. Ouchie.

Excuse me, I would just like to say, I think it's disgustingly cute how everyone has referred to it as "the fluffy". *nods* *dies from cuteness*

I like the phrase, "The Fluffy". I will now use it at least once a day.
I always thought it was a scarflike. . . thing.

It's been called everything from a tail to a boa. I think Lady is right on the money with this one...I think the fluffy is that really long flame like fur that lies along the neck and back.

Either way, no one really knows what the thing is...it's been debated ever since Sesshomaru's first appearance on the show, and I don't think the creator has really clarified what it is.

I wonder what Sesshomaru calls it. Surely he doesn't call it a "fluffy."

I'm sure he doesn't. He probably has some uptight, technical sounding name for it. "It's not a fluffy . . . it is a demonic aide."
But it does sound awfully adorable. The Fluffy . . . :D

If you really want to know more about this subject...I suggest using a Google search...but I think this topic should be dropped.

To be honest I never gave much thought to the fluffy I just figured he liked the softness and used it as a pillow when not killing people with it...

In ep 34 Tetsuaiga and Tenseiga, Totosai is running from Sesshomaru and Kagome discribes him as young, and WEARING FUR. I don't know if Kagome is just guessing though, how would she know its fur and not a tail?
Sledgstone
March 3rd, 2006, 07:40 AM
Probably guessing.. but it could be a translation issue too.
Stinkerbell
March 3rd, 2006, 04:45 PM
Very true, Sledge. It could have just been them slacking in the translation department again. They had a lot of issues with the band of seven. They kept saying they were specters when they smelled of grave soil ... come on now, that's "Zombie"
And calling Banryuu a "Halberd." A halberd is a staff with an axe head on it! -_-;
Anywho, I'm sticking with the "fluffy" being a "Demonic Aide" :meh:

I know the english subtitles differ from that of what is acually spoken. I left my dvds up a school so I won't be able to confirm what they say for a week. Does anyone else have the second season so we can see what the subies say?

I have an import of Season one and two. What episodes do you want to check on? I could check on them tonight or tomorrow.
I know what you mean. I've noticed the differences, too.
*edit* Nevermind ... I'm a bit dense right now ... I'll check on that and see if it was a mess up. That episode with Totosai is one of my favorite episodes.

All right, I finally sat down and turned on the subtitles.
In Episode 34 "Tetsusaiga and Tenseiga" Totosai describes Sesshomaru as:
He has white hair and wears furry, warm-looking clothing.
