Its one of the flaws Lucas makes just like In Empire Strikes Back how Obi-wan says Yoda trained him. nothing was ever mentioned about Qui-Gon.

To all who addressed my off topic post, thank you for the acknowledgement. I just threw that question out to be chewed on because I watched "Return of the Jedi" the night after seeing "Revenge of the Sith." It bothers me when I spot plot holes.
