This is what I know about Star Wars:

Lucas original had set to make 9 when he started writing the first three that were released. And the Roleplaying books that are out and the story books are suppose to be cannon for the rest of the series. If this is true the story takes an interesting turn.

You can pretty much rule out the books being turned into movies. They're more like fanfiction, and not a real part of the SW universe.

in a sense, he's not really runining it.....he's expanding on his original idea...yes, he rather did sell out when it came to making the first part, but the original story was set for 9 movies......he made the original trilogy as 3,4, and 5 because he thought that was the part of the story that would appeal most to the audience at the time....and everyone complains about him selling out, and i think he has, but he didn't just start selling out recently.....he marketed his original trilogy very carefully and tried to make it a way that would appeal to the most people.....while on one hand, he's always had his desire to tell a good story, he's also had his eye on marketing and finding a way to present his story to the public....it goes hand in hand...

Granted the technology Lucas had to work with while doing the originals was limited, but I think some of the editing he did to the movies a few years back for the most part, sucks balls. I can understand editing a blob under a landspeeder; adding a mucho ugly Jabba was pointless and -dare I say it- tacky. There was a feel to the original movies that Lucas fucked with when he went back to the films to "enhance" them. It's like he stole part of their charm.
For the record, I would love to see the Jedi Academy back in full swing with Luke at the helm. They would be better movies then this prequel crap we've had to endure.
