What's the background/plot of the whole thing ?

It is the story of three very different people brought together for a strange but common goal.

One is Mugen, a fierce warrior who has a primal attitude to fighting. He calls his unique style of fighting Bboying, and it's inspired from breakdancing.

Another is Jin, a more traditional swordsman who relies on his incredible skill to fend himself against any threat to him, ordinary or not.

The two of them are fierce rivals whose path appear destined to frequently cross. They would not even be traveling together if not for the third person in their party: Fuu, a supposedly ditzy waitress who, in excahnge for helping them out of a jam, has asked the two samurai to accompany her on a journey. Their goal--to locate a certain mysterious samurai who smells of sunflowers. And so the three travelers begin their journey through this "new-old" land. As mentioned before, this is far from the typical samurai anime. Mixed in simultaneously with robes and swords (ie. Jin) is very modern and mature ideas along with modern music and moves (ie. Mugen).

I heard that they are already making a 2nd season in Japan. :)

Well seeing as how its Geneon doing the dubbing we should expect some good things to come (though they're dubbing of Trigun was atrocious). Well that is for the DVD's anyways.

I've only seen the first 8 eps myself (subbed, own the first two DVDs and third is preordered). I must say its a great anime and I hope AS doesn't let us down (though I probably won't watch it on AS seeing as how I am in the middle of buying it).

male characters were very cocky, and has that "i dont give a shit about anybody attitude", which can be very annoying and overly done in other animes to show their "coolness". this usually can be good if other character is there to brighten things up and give humor to it. nope. everyones dull. they have no chemistry with each other yet girl follows them for no reason, male characters fight constantly with each other for no reason. they dont even like each other so why the hell you want to travel together..just go seperate ways already or get killed, i wouldnt have cared either way. most villians they encounter are either perverted or stupid. they are overly skilled when you can clearly see the anime wanted to go the direction of realistic fight. i havent seen much but felt like they crammed everything in it all at once and afraid that was it. rest of the show will be same probably.

i don't know much about the plot, but after watching the first episode, i do like the blood and violence. :p the animation style is pretty unique too. it gave me the impression that the scenes were being filmed instead of animated if that makes much sense.

I think you mean Capoeira...it's a form of Kung-fu based around music...You're right, though...he's only lacking one thing to make it true Capoeira...Most fighters that observe the style sway, and jive even if they aren't fighting, it keeps your opponent off guard, as well as keeps you loose and ready for anything...

yeah i didnt know how to spell it :-p and also it isnt true either cause true Capoeira is a style only used witht eh feet...it was used back during the slave days by black slaves as a fighting style...back then they were usually chained up at the hands and they made it look like dance to hide teh fact that it was fighting

i loved the show, but it was a little confusing
with the whole flash back thing and what was happening with jeen as the other guy was breaking fingers

i watch it with my cousin and we both love Jeen (sry if i spelled his name wrong) but we both laughed because it sems as though there's a tall, cute, quiet one with the dark past in every anime series, we just thought that was funny

The show is tight. Im glad to see the language is a little rough, thats hilarious. definantly more edgy than other shows AS has put up, as far as editing.

I've seen the 2 episodes aired so far on Adult Swim and i find it to my liking. It adds Japanese samurai action along with a little comedy and present-day style (which can be found in the music and a couple of people's clothing). I may try to watch this whole sereis seeing that they're airing it in the summer. Late nights!

Thinking about it, Mugen probably doesn't even know the styles, let alone predict moves through that knowledge XD He doesn't seem the type to care even if he did >_>


Though in the final battles, vs the "Hand of God" guy, Jin seems to be more useful than Mugen in fighting against a very strong enemy, where he can standoff the guy whereas Mugen just charges and gets thrown around...

Also, it is specifically said to him-I think by the same enemy-that since Mugen relies purely on reflexes rather than strategy in battle, he may possess more raw power than traditional swordsmen like Jin but pale in battle-usefulness in heavy 1-1 combat.

I've been watching it from the begininng, and it has quickly become my 2nd favorite anime. It has (so far) a very small group of main characters, and a very promising stroyline. I will keep watching it for sure, because it really seems like its going somewhere.
