If you didn't know, this is the documentary that comes with the DVD set about the conception of star wars, and all through the filming and planning of the first triliogy. It made me understand a lot better why Lucas re-edited the films. The first one he was never really happy with, cause it was expected to be a failure, and lots of the original effects were rushed simply to get the film out. He'd always been interested in using computers to help edit/and create footage for films, and then he invented the first computer that could actually do so. So what everyone saw in the Original Trilogy was not what he originally had in mind, because prior to making the films, he didn't realize how hard certain things would be. I wasn't totally satisfied with the re-edits prior to watching the documentary, but seeing it made my realize it was HIS idea, and he was simply changing it to how he would have had it if such technology existed at the time.

Yeah it was good...but...I still think Lucus should have left things alone, but at least he had a good reason.

i've seen it....i think, on the whole, if Star Wars wasn't as big as it is now, not very many people would've cared about the remakes....the 'purists' don't like them because that's not what they fell in love with....i wasn't particularlly happy with some of it, and i still like my original ones, but really, there was only a few scenes that got put back in....(and they shouldn't have done the healthy-choice Jabba...i'm sorry, that's the one change i simply don't think was well done)......but if you compare, there's not that much different....most of the changes are in the background and with explosion-type effects.....

The computer stuff was redone as well, but yeah, Jabba should have been left the way he was. I think the main one that set me off was Naboo being added to the end of Return of the Jedi, and the fact that he replaced Sebastian Shaw with Hayden Christiansan...the latter being the worst... -_-;
